Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapists are here to assess and help your child improve the foundational skills that are necessary for their performance in all that they do, whether it is with sensory processing, motor coordination, life skills, play, as well as social skills and emotional regulation. Our focus is integrating at the foundational level and working towards remediation of higher order skills which allow a child to succeed in the areas of learning, how to be social and a friend, coordinated in all facets of life, independent with life skills, all while remaining regulated.
The majority of our new clients receive one on one occupational therapy. However, with intervention or following an evaluation your child may be recommended for one of our group formats. All of our programs are progressive in nature and a collaboration with all so each may be considered as an option for your child.

Speech & Language Therapy
Our Speech Therapists are here to support your child in strengthening their communication skills in areas of receptive and expressive language so they can be understood, speak clearly with others, as well as understand the language for the natural process of learning and socializing. Our speech therapists have acquired additional training in our reading interventions. They collaborate and treat with our reading interventionists to best support our struggling readers, especially those with speech and phonological disorders.

Feeding Therapy
Our Occupational Therapists can help children who are fussy eaters, those who have eating challenges to achieve optimal nutrition so they can grow and have the energy they need to play and learn. Feeding Therapy is commonly used for children, especially those with conditions that impact their ability to eat, such as developmental delays, ARFID, sensory issues, medical conditions, or physical impairments.

Reading Intervention
Our reading interventionists have extensive training in the Ortan Gillingham with additional training in both the Wilson Reading Method and SPIRE program. They have also acquired additional training with the Lindamood-Bell program. Our interventionists will provide assessments including review of testing from other therapists, educators, and psychologists which allows for tailor-made programming for your child. We have learned through years of training and intervention that it is not a one size fits all approach.

Group Programs
Mind Body Child offers a variety of group programs, both for motor skills and social cognition. These programs are designed to build self awareness and confidence. Our Social Skills groups allow kids to practice the skills that they have learned during their individual therapies. Our School Readiness groups are fun and engaging groups that target children who require a little time and practice on how to be a student, while developing the essential skills that are needed to transition to a school environment with ease. Our Motor Skills groups are designed as a fully integrated approach that is engaging and fast-paced. This protocol is designed with intent to integrate the foundational skills needed for the relationship between visual/auditory/motor development and learning.
Social Skills Groups
Our occupational and speech therapists have developed social skills groups with a focus on self-regulation and social cognition. These groups are often designed in a way to develop self-awareness and social cognition with an emphasis on their executive functioning. These groups are implemented with intention, so children are paired with others who have similar profiles and goals.

The Mind Body Child Advantage
Our team works with a strong value system, meeting children where they are, and placing them at the center of our focus. We collaborate with all individuals who are a part of their team to ensure the most effective and successful outcome. Remember it is one whole brain, and we need to treat the WHOLE CHILD!
